PARISH NURSES

During the second weekend in November, National Donor Sabbath is celebrated
The Parish Nursing program has worked closely with KODA in providing information
about organ and tissue donation and transplantation. These specially trained congregation
members are nurses who provide outreach to those in their church family in medical situations.
Many churches have health and wellness programs that provide weekly blood pressure checks,
overseeing medication protocols, or just “checking in” on an elderly member. Parish Nurses
have been instrumental in arranging awareness information, scheduling presentations or
sponsoring a Registry Event for their congregation, including displaying one of the Donor
Memorial Quilts on a Sunday morning or at a Women’s Group meeting or Bible Study.
Partnering with Parish Nurses has also allowed visibility during church sponsored
blood drives.
