Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates (KODA) is the federally certified organ and tissue procurement organization that serves the majority of Kentucky, southern Indiana and western West Virginia. KODA works with donor families who wish to give the “Gift of Life” to those in need. KODA encourages individuals to join the Kentucky Donor Registry (www.donatelifeky.org) so that families know of their loved one’s wish to help save lives through donation. TRUST FOR LIFE is a non-profit organization that advocates organ and tissue donation awareness. We were created in 1992 when the Kentucky Circuit Court Clerks Association passed legislation that afforded every Kentuckian obtaining a drivers license the opportunity to donate $1 for the promotion of organ and tissue donation awareness. TRUST FOR LIFE is primarily funded by these $1 donations and uses the funds to promote organ and tissue donation by use of the Kentucky Organ Donor Registry. Second Chance is a volunteer group of recipients, donor family members, individuals awaiting a transplant, and others who promote organ and tissue donation and transplantation through awareness activities throughout Kentucky. Kidney Health Alliance of Kentucky (KHAKY) is an independent Kentucky based non-profit organization that serves kidney disease patients and their families through several support programs and patient activities.  We also raise awareness and early detection of chronic kidney disease through health screenings and educational programs with our mascot, Sidney the Kidney.  KHAKY is supported primarily through fundraising efforts and provides its programs and services through a network of volunteers. The National Kidney Foundation of Kentucky (NKFK) is dedicated to educating the public about preventing or delaying the onset of Chronic Kidney Disease, increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation, and providing assistance to dialysis and transplant patients. NKFK services include free kidney health screenings, a school education program, and a variety of special events. NKFK volunteer chapters are located in Bowling Green and Lexington. LifeCenter Organ Donor Network, “A Donate Life Organization”, encourages and coordinates the donation of human organs and tissues for transplantation. LifeCenter is the primary organ procurement organization serving 8 counties in Southwestern Ohio, 6 counties in Northern Kentucky and 2 counties in Southeastern Indiana. American Liver Foundation Description:
The American Liver Foundation provides public education, information and support for the 30 million Americans with liver disease and funds research to create a world without liver disease. Kentucky Blood Center is the blood bank for Central and Eastern Kentucky. It collects blood donations at donor centers and mobile blood drives in 62 counties in the eastern half of the state. KBC then tests, processes and ships that blood to 67 hospitals in the same region. KBC is dedicated to making sure there is an adequate supply of blood available for more than nearly 2 million Kentuckians. The goal of the University of Louisville Lions Eye Bank, a project of the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation, is to provide donor eye tissue for transplantation and ophthalmic research. The Lions Eye Bank of Lexington in collaboration with the Trust for Life and the Lions International is dedicated to eliminating blindness by procuring and providing ocular tissue for transplant and ophthalmic research to better serve our community.
